Mera Bon Dance

The Mera Bon Dance is registered as an Intangible Cultural Property of Shizuoka Prefecture. The uniquely elegant postures and hand movements of the dancers resemble prayer, which is why it is believed to have been influenced by the relaxed cultural styles of the Muromachi period (14th to 16th century). Fireworks are set off after the Bon dance is over.
